D - Magic Treehouse

When we were visiting my parents' house over fall break in October, my mom (a 3rd grade teacher) recommended to me that I get Noah started on the Magic Treehouse book series. I had thought he was still too young for them, but I got him a couple anyhow. Was I ever wrong! The kid just inhaled them. He read all 40 books by at least January (I can't exactly recall) and has been sad ever since. I've searched for other series and have found a few that he likes, but none that he enjoys as much as this one.

Imagine my excitement when I realized that the Edmond library now has book #41. I excitedly added my name to the reserve wait list and went and picked up the book without ever telling him it was out. If this is what the Bible means when it talks about God liking to give his children good gifts, then that's good stuff. I could hardly wait to see the look on his face.

And it was so worth the anticipation. His mouth dropped open and his eyes bulged out, and he just screamed "MOM!" He was so pumped. He started reading immediately and only put it down when we went into the movie theater to see Monsters vs. Aliens. Even including that 90 minute period when he was in the theater, he finished the book within 3 hours of getting it. It was really fun.

As you can see, he really put it down for nothing.

Not to be outdone, little sister snatched it up the minute he finished it and started reading it too. It stinks to be little when you want to be able to do everything the big kids can!

D - Holey Pants!

So, I mentioned yesterday that I cleaned out my kids' closets. In doing that, I finally broke down and took pictures to go along with a blog post that I've been thinking about every time I've done laundry for several months now.

See this?

This is just a sampling of Noah's pants that he has worn holes in this year. Not just random holes, mind you, but holes in the knees. Not just random knees either - ALWAYS the right knee. For several years now this has been the way it is with Noah. Tell me, what in the world does he do with his right knee that he doesn't EVER do with his left?

But wait! What is this? What bizarre freak of nature could have produced this craziness? Here, on Noah's "fancy pants," is a hole. And not just any hole.

A LEFT-knee hole!

Hmmmmmmm. It must somehow be related to the fanciness. That's the only thing I can figure.

D - My Closet Forecast

You can all thank me for this particular cold front. I finally took the time this morning to rotate our summer and winter clothing - a process that ALWAYS takes hours longer than I anticipate. Fortunately, I've lived in Oklahoma long enough to know to leave 4-5 articles of clothing from the off-season in an easy-to-reach spot. Guess I'll go dig through those spots right now. Gotta love it!

M - Easter pics in motion

Dana blogged recently regarding a few of the pictures we took at Easter. I can never choose just one or two pictures to share so instead I thought I'd take just under two minutes to share all 492 with you. I hope you enjoy...

Although we had a wet and soggy Easter Sunday in Oklahoma, the weather was beautiful on Saturday when we took these pictures. The song which accompanies the video is quite fitting considering the deluge that was to follow the next day.

Can you name the movie that's the source of this song?

D - She Notices

One thing that I really love about Katie is that she ALWAYS notices that I mop on Tuesdays. Of course, I do use Pine-Sol which has a rather strong smell. But still, every time she walks in the door on a Tuesday afternoon the first thing she says is, "You mopped today!" I just love that.

Mike and Noah, on the other hand, must have olfactory issues.

D - Easter

Hello? Hello? Does this thing still work? On that off chance that anyone still checks this blog, I wanted to show off our beautiful children.

Since Mike has taken to serious photography tinkering (translation - purchasing more and more expensive equipment) and has gotten quite good, I decided to give him the opportunity to take the kids' Easter pics this year. (Not that we've ever paid anyone before, but it sounds like I'm really proud of him this way.)

Because of the rain in the forecast for Easter Sunday, we dressed the kids up on Saturday and took pics then. This was actually a good move because it's always so tough to squeeze them in on an already rushed Sunday.

He took over 400 pics, and the kids actually looked happy for the majority of them.

I did get in a bit of trouble for choosing such a pale pink dress for Katie. Apparently it doesn't photograph as well as darker shades.

But I'm not apologizing. I love this dress.

I guess after shot number 420 or so they did get a little tired of this.....
So, we moved the show inside.
Noah? Noah? Where are you? Didn't you want to have yours done? Huh.....
