Calling all good liars............I have a Santa emergency!
I bought Katie's Santa gift last night (a new bike) and have it in the back of my van. Unfortunately, I didn't get it into a safe place last night, and Noah saw it today. Yikes! He was very excited and told me what a great gift I had for her, so I lied and said it wasn't for her. (We were having this whole conversation right in front of her, of course.) He kept pressing the issue, "Well, who's it for then?" I finally got him to quit asking questions by begging him and saying that at Christmas time we just have to have some secrets.
Anyhow, damage has been done. How am I supposed to still give this gift from Santa on Christmas morning without telling him the truth??? I need a good story quick! If any of you have a good lie or two up your sleeves, please let me know.

I think the political term should be calling all fictional story tellers. Since we aren't supposed to lie. =)
I could come up with something elabrate - let me know. I don't have anything simple. Besides you are secretly helping Santa. Sometimes Santa asks the parents to help. Santa's little helpers aren't all in the North pole.
Santa had to deliver it to you (to put under the tree on xmas) early since he has so many presents to deliver on Christmas (it IS an oversized item...those have special shipping requirements, even from Santa) But Noah wasn't suppose to know about it because Santa doesn't want him to get jealous that Katie got a present delivered early. That's why it's a secret! That's how I would do it. But, my kids are pretty easily persuaded, so that may not work for you! Good luck!
Our online purchases keep showing up on our front door and the girls want to know what they are..I just grap the box, run upstairs and say nothing and don't come down until they are distracted!! :) This Santa stuff is getting harder and harder as they get older! So much for buying the gifts in front of them...those days are gone!
I think you should just give it to her as a gift and tell Noah you were telling him it wasn't for her b/c she was there. Then take one of your other presents and give it to her from S.C. It isn't like kids know how much things cost so even though it won't seem like a big present to you, she will still love whatever it is. Sorry, I don't have a lot of "fiction" to help you out.
I had to tell Wade a little lie today about helping Santa. Lafe asked for a Leapster Learning Center and we have not been able to get our hands on one yet. We were out together and David called me to tell me that there was a Best Buy near where we were that had some. I had to go get it before they sold out. So, I explained that a lot of children had asked for the same thing and Santa was having trouble getting enough of them before Christmas. Therefore, we had to help him by picking one up and hiding it from Lafe. We are going to set it out for Santa to put out for Lafe on Christmas Eve after they go to bed. He bought it and he's a REALLY smart kid. Just tell him you're helping the big SC.

Dear Dana, Santa cannot carry all those huge bikes in with the other gifts, so he asks a helper to deliver those the week before Christmas and asks Parents to help keep the secret. (I can't reveal my source, as this was told to me off-the-record a few years ago.)
Santa uses UPS, Mail, Fedex, etc. to help get gifts to all good boys and girls. He does not have a big enough sleigh for all of our toys. It works at our house!
I'm not real big on this fictional story telling idea of Santa anyway. The jury is still out.....but, I'm sure I'll play along. But, perhaps Santa had to stop by early because it was such a big gift and couldn't fit it in the sleigh.
I have it... Your in LUCK Today! tell Noah you had to take the bike back to the store because it cost too much money. Then tell him you wrote santa an email asking him to PLEASE bring my poor katie a new bike and we are hoping Santa Comes through... That is the best way to handle it.

You all are SOOO BAD!! I make my students write "I will be honest and trustworthy because I am a child of God" (for the entire length of PE) each time they lie....ya'll need to get your pencils out!!!!
Courtney is getting interested in Santa this year so I am sure I'll be lying next year too!
Paint it a new color and call it a good save! lol. Good luck! You should have just acted surprised and said, "No way! There's a bike in the back of the car? I think Santa put it there!"
