D - Gymnastics 2009

This year was Katie's second year of gymnastics and the big M&M Olympics. Mike, Jan and I got to follow her around and watch her show off everything she's learned this year. She shook off the stage fright early on and enjoyed doing her thing for us.

Have you ever seen such a beautiful pike position? Or is it tuck?????

The beam requires a lot of concentration.

Trapeze? I don't remember seeing Nastia Liukin try that one.

or the zip line...

or this...

Ahhhhhhh, the floor. That's more like it.

The Team

The Trophy

The Coach

Well, it was another fun year in spite of the fact that I now think she was in half gymnastics, half circus.

D - Addendum to Spring Soccer Season

One bad thing about Mike coaching this year is that he wasn't available to take pictures like he usually does. Fortunately, we have other semi-pros in the parent pool. My friend Melanie just sent me these pics of Katie, and I had to add them. That last one cracks me up.

D - Spring Soccer "Season"

I'm obviously very behind in my blogging, but I didn't want to let this soccer "season" pass by without me saying something about it. For anyone who does not live in Edmond and already know all of this, I call it a "season" because we barely got to play this year. Between the hurricane winds and torrential rains, the weather was not kind to us and we missed a lot of practices and games.

But it was still a good time, so I wanted to post some pics. This year Mike coached Katie's team (with considerable nagging on the part of yours truly). I think we both were surprised by how much he enjoyed it. Our team was made up mostly of kids from church, and it was fun getting to know them a little better. You couldn't so much call us a "winning" team, but they had a lot of fun. Katie really enjoyed having dad out there, so maybe I can even get them both to try it again in the fall. We'll see......

Here she is freezing in one of the windy games.

This is one of my favorites pics. I'm not sure much soccer is being played, but at least we're having fun!

Look at her go!

Sadly, the best individual picture we got of her....

The team! (or most of it anyhow)

Noah was by far the most disappointed member of the family with the way this season played out. There were a lot of tears shed on Saturdays around here.
One of his rare games...

Struggling to get to the ball first - even if it is his own teammate he's trying to outrun!

Taking a dive, part 1....
Part 2....
& part 3.

Well, that's all. It was pretty disappointing, but we'll give it a try again next year. Noah's doing a soccer camp at the Y all this week, so that has eased some of the disappointment.
